We are the Ship

In this wonderfully written book, we follow see the growth of the Negro League through the eyes of an an “Everyman” player. We see the hardships and the successes of many of it’s players, including Jackie Robinson.

Evaluation Criteria: Style. The style of this book is what makes it a great work of literature. The story of the players hardships that they faced make it clear that the author had great enthusiasm for what he was writing. You can feel it through the pages. The unique illustrations also play a role in this books unique style.
