George

George, by Alex Gino, is the story of young George whom everyone sees as a guy, but deep inside, he knows he is a girl. When George hears that there will be a play on Charlottes Web, George knows immediately that he wants to be Charlotte. His teacher won’t let him because he is a boy. Eventually, George and his friend Kelly come up with a plan to prove once and for all that George is a girl.

We have a very distinct theme here with gender identity and as George learns who she is in her journey. The characters in the story are also well written and ones the reader can connect with. From the main character George, who is dealing with gender identity, to Georges friend Kelly, who will do anything to help out George in his endeavor.
