Rapunzel’s Revenge

Rapunzel’s Revenge by Shannon and Dean Dale is a graphic fantasy novel that puts a twist on Rapunzel’s fairy tale. She escapes her tower and sets off on an adventure with Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk.

Evaluative Criteria: Theme and Setting.  The theme in this story is a simple “good triumphs over evil.” But what makes it even more interesting is the fact that our main characters are straight out of a fairy tale, in which this a very common theme. The setting of the story is not what you would expect in a book with ‘Rapunzel” in the title. Although there are some fairy tale settings like the castle, the story has more of wild west setting to it, something you don’t see in fantasy novels too often.
